B128 – THE HEXHAM HEADS

The Hexham Heads. In 1972, two boys were helping their parents Garden, in the town of Hexham, when one of the boys came across a weird shaped rock, in the shape of a scull, excited by what he found, him and his brother carried on dig and searching till they found the second head. the two heads no bigger than 6cm. Anyone who came in to contact with these weird heads, would have a “out of this world”  phenomena. Items would be thrown across the room of the boys house, once they moved the heads inside.

An expert on Celtic artifacts, Dr. Anne Ross,  reported that she woke up one morning to find a half human half animal creature standing in her bed room, she followed this creature out of her bedroom and down stairs towards the kitchen, before she lost track of it, a few days later her daughter said she saw a werewolf jumped of the staircase and then disappeared.

A man named Desmond Craigie, reported after they became famous that he had created the heads for his daughter to play with in 1952, but lost them in the garden. He worked for a local company that produced concrete, and an expert from Newcastle university backed up the claim by coming to the conclusion that these heads where moulded and not carved.

What an anti-climax, but quite a cool local story.

anyway heres a few of my snaps I took yesterday. They have no relevance to that story, I just like it.

B126 – ANIT NO PLACE LIKE IT

In the week amy said about going to Brighton, to play that basketball arcade game. I was all over it, then Friday we found out it was pride weekend, which kind of changed the whole idea, we were now going for a bit of a day drink. Nothing wrong with that, so we dropped our favourite lesbians a messaged – Megan and Scarlett to see if they were going and boom we have a bit of a fun Saturday on our hands.

lucky though, amy booked an early train ticket down there, so we could have a few hours in the arcade first, she won at basketball but that was only because my basket was a bit off centre and I think the light on my side was a bit strong so it kept on distracting me and shinning in my eyes. not that its an excuse, I just want everyone to know the type of environment I had to deal with.

anyway we met up with Megan, Scarlett and a few other friends and had a fun afternoon, I didnt take that many snaps, just really had a good time. but heres a few bangers I did take.

B123 – back to the city

This week I’ve been in a place called Allendale. Running about filming stuff. After a proper curry last night at a place called the spice mill, we are now driving the 5 and a half hours back to London.  I don’t know why the curries relevant but I thought I would meniton it anyway. As it was a pretty good curry.
I’m looking forward to getting back to zone 2 life, but at the same time kind of think it would be cool to wake up in the countryside every day, chuck on a pair of boots, wake your dog up and jump on a quad bike and work on a farm. But for now I’ll just have to head back to London, and the fresh air of the underground.
Here’s a few countryside snaps of Allendale.

B122 – GOLDEN HOUR IS THE BEST HOUR

this week im up north and to be honest you got to love the english country side, with tractors, sheep dogs and a good old fashioned english pub. Everytime I come to places like this I always think, I should pack my job up in London and move to the country life and just drive motor bikes, climb trees and not worry about politics, money and rush hour.  maybe ill give it a try one day and see how long I last before I miss the central line at 8am on a hot Monday morning. But for now I think these places are good to come to for work and to grab some clean fresh air before heading back into the craziness of central london!

another short and sweet post from me, but I need to sleep. Ive also got a really really cool idea of the website and sunday Ill show do it as well as my normal post. its going to change the game up alot!

but any way here some amazing views and cool photos from a really really busy days filming.

Todays going to be short and sweet, its been tough and problem not the best day, but got a few good photos, Im going to keep this one shorter and sweeter than most days. im basically in Northumbria filming for this week, so SHOULD be good but probably really busy as usual.

I want to write more but would rather hit the pillow and get some sleep.

B116 – RAIN DROPS ARE MORE LIKE BURGER BUNS.

so im now 116 days into this 3 photos a day and a brief paragraph thing, and trying to come up with things to take photos of and write about after working a days work anit so easy. but today I though, I would write about rain, the brussel sprout of the eco system, everyone hates it, but if it was for rain, we would probably most definitely be dead. it clears out the Carbon Dioxide from the air, keeps plants alive, which then keep us a live.

So heres a few interesting facts about rain and if anyone has any ideas on things I should take photos of, then please let me know. Im in an office all day at the moment and need to start doing some exploring.

  • The highest amount of rainfall ever recorded in 24 hours is 182.5 centimetres (71.9 inches) in Foc-Foc, La Réunion. This occurred during tropical cyclone Denise on January 8, 1966.
  • The highest amount of rainfall ever recorded in one year is 25.4 meters (1000 inches) in Cherrapunji, India.
  • Antarctica is the driest continent on Earth.
  • Under certain conditions, rain can fall from the sky without ever reaching the ground. It happens when rain falling from a cloud evaporates or sublimes as it approaches the earth’s surface.
  • rain has a smell. When raindrops fall on dusty or clay soils, they trap tiny air bubbles on the surface which then shoot upward – as in a glass of Champagne – and burst out of the drop throwing aerosols of scent into the air where they are then distributed by wind.
  • Raindrops are shaped more like hamburger buns. As a rain drop falls, it becomes less spherical in shape and becomes more flattened on the bottom like a hamburger bun.

B112 – the clash, chuck berry and T. rex

A bit of a tough one for Saturday, it was literally just a day off, going out for a meal and then grabbing a few pints in some country pub in Norfolk. Literally spent more time in Norfolk this week than in London for two completely separate reasons, but it is a pretty cool place so I can’t moan and nothing beats a English country pub in the rain!

West Runton isn’t just any Norfolk town this place was once home to an amazing music venue, which was host to some great musicians including chuck berry, the clash and the sex pistols! But unfortunately they knocked this sick little piece of history down in 1986 but it has made way for a cool little country pub.

This weekend is all about eating food and doing nothing.

– Amy on the way home after a few gin and tonics –
– the pub when it’s raining. Nothing beats it –
– what a legendary place, in a unsuspecting place –
– the pub now on the spot were chuck berry and the clash was took over –

B106 – HAVE A LOOK AT THIS!

today im in norfolk on a shoot for the next few days and currently sat in my hotel room backing up rushes another 30 minutes and ill be in that bar!  Im just hitting that 12 hour mark, so in the TV world I’m just coming up to my lunch break, nothing too crazy. I think its going to be a fun little series Im working on and should be going to some even cooler locations, so my photography game will be on sick, so fingers crossed it pulls through and I get to go. anyway heres my photos from today im going to keep this short and sweet for now, Ive got footage to back up and beer to drink!

have a look at my snaps from today.

B105 – It’s a horse thing

I want to write today about horse’s, the most scariest pet in the uk. as someone who loves the country side, but is shit scared of horses. Ill went near a horse once and it kicked me and then stood on my toe and since then I havent’ trusted them, I also lied and said I could ride one and ended up getting bucked off. but its the one thing I always wish I learnt how to do it, if I could ride a horse im pretty sure I would of look like John Wayne.

Well today, I went for a walk in the woods and came across a field of horses, they had those masks to protect them from the flies on but I still felt sorry for them. To make this even better, then I saw one of the horse shake the flies off and decided I should take some photos, I had a 70-200mm lens with me, so could get some sick photos.

have a look and let me know, what you think

B100 – 100 DAYS STRAIGHT!!

today is a big day, to day is the day I reach the 100 days of this three photos a day challenge, so that means Ive upload at least 300 photos (some days Ive done more than three). The whole thing is starting to pick up momentum which is good and I’m starting to see some regular people like my page. you guys know who you are, so thank you!

But I though rather than just posting photos, I thought I would share a story, from before I was born and with a man I never met, my grandad Frederick Wrench. Back in the day this man work for the times news paper in the photography department, (just when people where trying to get in the whole 35mm film game), so this is probably where I get my techy geekiness from.

Well anyway my granny and him where saving for a new dishwasher, she was bored for doing it by hand and they needed to up there kitchen appliance game and a new dishwasher would of definitely have made the neighbours jealous, but one day Frederick spear came home with the new Kodak Retina Type ii (which is an amazing film camera), and had spent all the savings from the dishwasher on this new camera because as he saw it, he needed it, I dont think my gran was very happy but when you need something. you need it. what a legend!

Well, 60 years later I was given this camera by my gran, and took it for a spin around London, its not the easiest camera to work and without a light meter you’ve got to have a pretty good eye. so to know that back then he didn’t use a light meter and it was all just by judging the environment and take a great snap is impressive.

I never met this man but I definitely think this story has had an influence on me in some sort of way, to know he worked at the times in the photography department in the early days of photos and technology, is something that I think is pretty cool.

Anyway here some of his snaps and some of mine.
