Right I’m sorry but today’s post is just three pictures of a pigeon. I wish I had more to write about but prepping for this trip is taking up all my time, I literally stepped out the office to get an amazon parcel. When I saw a pigeon and took the chance to chase it around this mini park. I think I managed to pull it off and get the shot.
Sorry for the short post, but I’m just really busy at the moment. I promise tomorrow will be a good one.
– a pigeon taking flight –– where’s the pigeon going? Who knows –– she’s away –
the day were failing at post 3 photos each day was nearly here. ive had a pretty long day and a few technical problems a long the way but nothing that can be sorted and the only picture Ive taken today was of two people playing the guitar on the street. I literally just took one photo and I’ve been starring at a computer screen all day. its been one of those days where you genially just want to watch some crappy tv and sleep.
Well thats no happening now, im doing the true brit thing, Ive put the kettle on and im about to smash out four photos, screw doing just three im going to post four, just becuase I can. my thinking is, over this weekend I took so many sick photos and have a few cool stories and that I should post them and give you guys some content, i can do what I like.
At the weekend, Amy’s mum was baking some cakes, all of them were really tastey, but one went a bit wrong, it didnt rise or something. she was about to throw it away and start again, but that saying waste not want not popped up, so I though I would give this whole bake off thing a go and see if I could make something out of it. a biscuit cutter and some walnut sprinkles later and you have a finished bake off worthy cake.
please see below, ill leave the guessing up to you as to which one is my cake and which one Amys mum made. just a little bit of a guessing game for ya.
On a different topic, that picture I took today of those two people with the guitar, none of it is in focus, its not even straight and you cant even see the whole guitar. im not really sure if any of that matters. its street photography. but I would like to know what anyone think, is there a certain level of photography that goes into or can a perfect photo from the street just be right place right time. i think ive got away with it and can all it photography.
this post is a bit jumpy and all over the place, but so am I tonight.
– this was the only photo I took today –– was this my attempt at saving the cake –– or was this my attempt at saving the cake –– the chappels garden –
Not sure what to write about today, im literally struggling to keep my eyes open. its really early on Saturday morning, im two coffees and a large macdonalds coke down and still going. but it is a good day becuase im on my way to Norfolk for the Bank holiday weekend where im just going to eat and eat and eat.
My idea of the photos today was to take them on my journey to the station, see if I could make the one stop on the tube more exciting, it actually worked, I left a bit earlier so I could take photos but Im pretty happy with the result.
the good thing about doing this whole project is that its helping to me figure out what I like taking photos of, if its landscape or people or adventure. I think its hard to figure that out, with everything today like instagram and facebook, its so easy to take a good photo, but its hard to figure out what exactly you want to shoot. 5 months ago, I didnt really have an idea, I couldnt decide, I knew I like to take photos but I couldnt work out what my favourite thing to shoot was. I would just take hunderds of photos each day and see where I ended up. but not I really think about what im going to take a photo of, and ive realised that its people. I love taking photos of people. they are a hard thing to photograph, because a lot of people don’t want to have the photo taken, so its all about being quick and not drawing to much attention. A good tip that i’ve found works, is to set the shot up, wait for someone to walk into it and then take the snap, that way they think they’ve just walked into your shot, rather than you snapping them on purpose. simple and effective.
anyway heres my snaps from this morning!
(and sorry for any spelling mistakes )
– i have no idea who they are –– liverpool street this morning –liverpool street, really early this morning –
yesterday was one of those day’s spent prepping for up and coming shoots, arranging kit and trying to get as much kit as possible in to peli cases, just like a big puzzle. So for that reason, my photos from yesterday aren’t that exciting.
One thing Ive realised about this little project I’m doing is, what you have to do is always take photos, even on days when you know what your going to write about, those are the days where if you see a cool angle or nice lighting, take a snap on your iphone, because they have become so handy to me on days like today when im struggling to put anything amazing together, Im just quickly scrolling through my phone for bangers I might of taken last week. thats basically whats happened today, but I don’t want it to be a complete throw back to old photos from previous days. so “m going to throw in some photos I took yesterday as well.
Enjoy these snaps, I’ve uploaded four just because I want to keep you guys happy.
– ignore the tissue next to the lens I forgot to move it –– taken yesterday, on my route to work –– the view through a 85mm prime – as you can see it looks burry without a camera –– the only bit of blue sky I saw yesterday, but I got to play with camera’s so its nothing to complain about –
today is a big day, to day is the day I reach the 100 days of this three photos a day challenge, so that means Ive upload at least 300 photos (some days Ive done more than three). The whole thing is starting to pick up momentum which is good and I’m starting to see some regular people like my page. you guys know who you are, so thank you!
But I though rather than just posting photos, I thought I would share a story, from before I was born and with a man I never met, my grandad Frederick Wrench. Back in the day this man work for the times news paper in the photography department, (just when people where trying to get in the whole 35mm film game), so this is probably where I get my techy geekiness from.
Well anyway my granny and him where saving for a new dishwasher, she was bored for doing it by hand and they needed to up there kitchen appliance game and a new dishwasher would of definitely have made the neighbours jealous, but one day Frederick spear came home with the new Kodak Retina Type ii (which is an amazing film camera), and had spent all the savings from the dishwasher on this new camera because as he saw it, he needed it, I dont think my gran was very happy but when you need something. you need it. what a legend!
Well, 60 years later I was given this camera by my gran, and took it for a spin around London, its not the easiest camera to work and without a light meter you’ve got to have a pretty good eye. so to know that back then he didn’t use a light meter and it was all just by judging the environment and take a great snap is impressive.
I never met this man but I definitely think this story has had an influence on me in some sort of way, to know he worked at the times in the photography department in the early days of photos and technology, is something that I think is pretty cool.
Anyway here some of his snaps and some of mine.
– my 100 post’s celebration –– 2nd from the left Freddy Wrench, 3rd from the left Granny –– my mum, love that hair cut –– not sure if thats my mum or my uncle, I should of really found out before writing this –– mum playing with the “smart phone” –– Grandad wearing the camera, that I know have –– no idea who or whats happening –– the photo I took with the Kodak retina type ii-– this is anders –– Mezhyhirya Residence, Ukraine (he was the president, but got over run my rebels and he’s now is in hiding some where inside Russia) I was there last year to film a chocolate biscuit commercial… but thats whole different story –
So here a picture of my office snacks… and some other pictures to help keep this blog interesting. but they have really pulled through on the office snacks. im keeping these short and sharpe at the the moment, just because I dont have alot of time right now.
– proper snacks –– my desk –– i saw blue sky in manchester! –
I have to admit, I was wrong really wrong, the other day i thought manchester was sunny and in full summer mood. Today it has rained non stop, but not like normal rain, its literally like someone has turned the shower on a just left a cold shower running.
– theres not even puddles just flooding –– its wet –– this is a light in front of a light –
Last night I was walking to liverpool street from Bank station, something im doing todo on the last days of my office/desk job is to walk from one tube station on another tube along the line i need, just so I dont spend countless hours on the tube when I could be in the sun taking snaps.
– Spot the man –– squeezing new buildings in everywhere –– views –
its been a big week and its only Tuesday night (when I writing this), today I finished work at like 7:45ish and was like screw it im going to westminster to be a proper tourist and just take pictures and just enjoy being in London, something I think im actually doing more and more, I keep finding that I will purposely sometimes go the long route just so I can see some more of this crazy city! I love everything about london, other than the tubes, I hate the tubes.
So here a few snaps of my hour on Embankment last night.
– “make sure you get my good side” –– cant beat a good clock –– We’re watching you –
Im still editing pictures from the other day with flo. so instead of taking pictures of my day and not really showing anything half as good as this little gremlin, heres a few more of florence Kentfeild and one of a cloud.
– shes literally a monkey –– anit nothing stopping her from playing in the rain –– I just thought I would put this weird cloud up –
