B247 – STRANGE HELLOS

As my christmas break has started and if I dont find some sort of project todo then I will spent probably the next 2 months sat on a sofa eating Pringles and watching Netflix. no seriously that is genuinely a possibility.  Then im going to try and get myself down to as many gigs as possible and just try to photograph music and be around music for the next 2 months.

So last night I ended up going to a gig at the Seabright Arms on Hackney Road (Someone lied to me and said this place had shut down, its not. this place is open and ready for business!) the band playing were some guys called Strange Hellos, relatively new Nordic band they have just realised their first single, its kind of a mix between XX and something like Circa Waves. Nordic Review said this about the bands new single:

“We Are Trouble’ is a blistering 3 minute fusion of power pop and shoegaze, and they’re the second Norwegian band (the other being Pyke) to recently remind me in their sound of UK band Lush. This is just such a catchy track, with a real energy –  great melodies, vocals, guitars and pretty much everything…..”

Heres a link to the band on youtube, have a peep:

This is one of my first posts about a band Ive just seen so maybe I need to actually sit down with this one and think about what I need to write about, I don’t want to be “fake news”. At the moment Im just turning up taking photos and not thinking about what im going to write about, maybe its time I upp’d my game. but for now Im just going to listen to Strange Hellos Sound cloud and see where I end up.

Ive now downloaded an App called Dice, which tells me about all the gigs going on in my local area, the plan is to get down to at least 2 gigs a week, while Ive got no work on.

Here’s my photos, I hope you like them.

B143 – BACK TO THE STREETS

Today I just wanted to go out and take photos of people, I havent done that for a long time and it was something I was determined todo. After finishing work at like 6ish, I headed to sainsburys grabbed a red bull and hit the street just to take some photos and chill out, it was one of those days where you are hoping for something good to happen, like the time I saw a man sun bathing on Shoreditch highstreet.

it was just one of those days where you have to wait and wait and wait for that photo opportunity, lucky enough a guy walks past holding and an umbrella and I think I managed to pull the shot off, you might also be able to see the guy furthest on the right giving him some weird look.

Street photography is something I really want to get better at, I really enjoy walking around and just taking photos of people, who are posing or doing anything. they’ve just switched off and going from A to B. Alot of it comes down to right place, right time, so I think Ive just got to carry on taking as many photos as possible and one day I might take that amazing photo! not sure about my writing skills though, i think thats a lost cause.

Anyway heres my snaps enjoy.

So yesterday Anders and myself went out with the BMX to be the 15 year olds we used to be. after a good old session at the local skatepark we naturally ended up at the pub for a drink, which soon turned into 3, which of course turns into 5 (the last two weren’t with anders, he went to watch the boxing).

top three places to have a beer on bethnal green road, enough said. have a pop down and see for yourself.

–  No 1. cheap and the best place to watch the footie and have a good chit chat and on Thursday’s sing some Karaoke (cash only)
B018-1-2
– No 2. for the late night beer, always a good laugh and some times a random guy is sat in the corner playing the guitar  –
B017-1
– no 3. The pay day location, a bit more pricey but they serve a drink with 7 different rums which is always a good idea –

B007 – THE CLASH @ Twickenham

So last week, I got an email asking me if I would like to work on The Clash at twickenham this weekend, I couldn’t reply fast enough.

The Clash is the name of a Rugby Derby for any one who thinks i’m talking about the band, I’m not.
