B101 – LONGER WINTERS AND SHORTER SUMMERS IN THE UK

As im writing this post, its raining not just a bit its actually chucking it down, yesterday it was boiling hot, today its completely changed. My first idea for this post was to show some photos of the rain and maybe a few puddles around london, but I thought screw that im going to show some good weather and live in the past rather than face facts that London will never be the Mediterranean.

I even read an article the other day that said because of global warming, that Europe will experience cooling, meaning our summers will be even shorter and the winters a lot longer! This is becuase of the greenland Ice caps melting and the gulf stream, so in fact the cold air will be pushed into the golf stream and basically turn Europe into a fridge freezer.

for those of you who are equially suprised that I’ve read an article here’s ya proof.

B096 – I saw a helicopter with missiles on the side

Walking home from work yesterday and I saw this crazy helicopter flying over Bethnal Green, I only really noticed it because of how low it was flying and what it had on the side. Does anyone know what helicopter it is? Other than that I saw to Asian people taking wedding photos out side of a bills restaurant which was a bit weird but different strokes for different folks.

– what is this? I would love to fly in this –

One thing I’m learning about street photography is that you have to be there in the moment and not worry about taking photos of people in plan sight, other wise you’ll never get the shot, some times you’ve just got to go balls to the wall.

– “make sure you get the menu in the shot” –

At the moment my main camera I’m using is a Sony WX350 which isnt the best point and shoot but it’s a lot easier than taking a canon 5d with a 24-105mm lens which is basically the same size as a small child.
– this was me just playing around with the lights on the tube –

As you can see this camera does hold up ok and for the price you can’t complain, this was literally a camera I brought for a small project I had with a mate and not really intended to use it for the blog thing I’m doing, so I suppose it’s doing the job but if you were to put it next to a fuji x100f or Leica M it would look like one of those old Motorola flip phones.

B094 – my first photoshoot

The whole point of this posting three new photos a day, is really to try out different techniques and just figure out what i enjoy taking photos of. so the other day Amy and me went to the park in the afternoon when the sun was low and tried out taking photos of someone just standing there and see how it played out. to be honest Im pretty happy with the results.

normally I only edit in Lightroom, but for these photos decided to start off in LR but then export to photoshop and see if I could get a different look and improve the stills. Photoshop is one of those programs that people spend years learning and I have experience with it, but now want to understand more about the software, and the best way todo that is to practise every day.

B091 – she stole my camera!

waking up to a hyper 3 year old has got to be one the best things, when it happens only now again. But thats what happened today, I woke you at my parents house and was met by a energized three year old that goes by the name of FLO. after some standard hungover activites like throwing up and feeling sorry for myself. I was king of ready to start playing, but as soon as we pulled out the camera she was happy to take some snaps and bang my lens of the floor. After showing her how to take a photo and then letting her lose, she soon worked it out and we were taking pictures of my little ponies in no time.

Thank you canon for building a Flo proof camera!

Heres some of her snaps!

B090 – BUCKLED BIKES OF BETHNAL GREEN

Probably a lot of you know im a bike fan of 2 wheels, not motor bikes they scare me but bicycles and all things pedal power, as someone living in london i’m used the walking out of a shop of pub to notice my bike lock on the floor and my bike gone. to me thats the lowest of the low, steeling someones bike. but this post is not about that, is post is about the sad and familiar site of bikes abandoned, chained to a lamp post or bike rack. something thats been rubber side down across hundreds of miles, it might of been a commuters new years eve resolution or even just a spontaneous purchase, but one thing no can disagree its the best way to see a city.

with 32% of all londoners cycling, thats around 4.2 million people! that means theres got to be at least 5 million bikes in London, thats amazing, but with that goes up the amount of bike abandoned which is sad! these could be the perfect traveling tools for people to get around. so people fi your reading this, dont abandoned your bike on the side of the road, take it to one of the bike hospitals for a new life!

check out these guys who are doing just that!

oh and look at my photos.

B086 – the phone pulls  through when you need it!

One thing I thought was a good idea is if I saved up all the photos I took on my iPhone from Italy. This camera gets used as a quick go to, if it’s in my hands and I happen to see something I like or if all my other cameras are in my bag. Then the photo takes the snap, no playing with settings just swipe up and press the button. Done.

A few months back though I wasn’t a fan of phone stills they always seemed a bit flat and couldn’t really hold up against a camera  but since I’ve been using it as an easy to go point and shoot camera, it’s definitely impressing me and something that’s pulled through when I’ve needed that quick snap.

Any way enough of the rambling I’ll let the photos do the talking.

– the last beach i saw –
– I just like the colour in this photo –
– the “high street” in Raito, Italy –

B085 – the hip little town of Raito

Im finding it hard to described the town Raito, it is a properly individual town where locals sit at the bus stop the whole day watching the world go buy, Old ladies invite you into their home to buy a “bus ticket” and wild dogs hang out on the street like teenagers no joke! this was the place we where staying, its high up in the mountains above the Amalfi Coastal road, the only transport is a bus that comes every 1/2 hours and doesnt really have a destination it just kind of drives roughly to the town and will roughly drop you off. this mixed with a couple of 5 star hotels which are full of tourist, expensive wines (we werent staying there we were in an Airbnb) and every other day the town played hosts to big Italian weddings!  definitely gives Raito a weird feel, and kind of organised chaos, but you gotta love it.

I wanted to take pictures at night of this hip little town  and show you just what is it like, so heres some snaps.

– this is the whole of raito from the road up to it –
B085-1-4
– from the high street looking down on salerno, there were fireworks going off for some sort of celebration –

B083 – we have driven on one of the worlds most dangerous roads!

This place is amazing, but its also pretty chaotic! One of the craziest things is driving south along the amalfi coast, its full of crazy moped drivers and to match that is the 100ft cliff edge literally inches away! But we have had a smasher of a week, yesterday we went and saw pompei, which is massive but properly jammed packed with tourists! After this we headed down to Amalfi for some food and a swim. that place is full of bright colour walls and cool little restaurants down small alleyways, its definitely worth a trip but dont come by road that the boat!

todays our last day and I owe amy a day sunbathing, we’ve been out the door each day at 8, either travelling somewhere, climbing a volcano or swimming. So today we work on amy’s tan!

B083-1-12
– just a small bit of the amalfi coast roads –
B083-1-14
– so much Italian in one photo –
B083-1-4
– amy feeling like a roman –

B082 – bumped into some old chums

So yesterday we went on a little trip to Capri, where we bumped  into some old friends the CALNANS, big up to guys! We didn’t get any photos but cese la vie!

Anyway Capri was amazing and we basically walked around the whole day see the sights and stuff. After we headed back to Salerno and caught the beginning of the beach football. The amalfi coast is living up to Ta reputation!

– the high street in Capri ain’t a normal one –
– this is Amy in holiday shoe heaven –
– we snuck into a 5 star hotel for the view –

B080 – we climbed a volcano

Yesterday was a day of exercise and eating. We started off at like 7 and climb up mount Vesuvius, we literally forgot to take money and that place you need cash for everything from parking to going to the toilet. With only a small bottle of sparkling water (Amy hates sparkling water) we climbed in 30 degree heat.

After this we headed down to serrento for some pizza and the beach. That place is unreal, the pizza is unreal and the beach was kind of a pontoon kinda thing with sun loungers and umbrellas for people like me who don’t want to mess with the sun and get burnt.

Here’s a few snaps from our day yesterday.

– cruising surreto-
– beach huts and stuff –

– up the top of the volcano –
