B102 – ANIT NOTHING BETTER THAN THESE BAGELS!

Theres on thing that East london has that no where else in London can even compete and thats the 24/7 365 days of a year Brick Lane Baigel Bake all day ever day this shop is rammed with costumers, from Police Officers to a motor cycle gang stopping off to get a Salt Beef Bagel. This place was built in the 1974 and is probably the most famous shop on Brick Lane beating all the curry houses at the end!

The best things about Beigel Bake is the fact that they haven’t changed their prices to fit in with every other shop on that street, you can literally go in there get a salmon and creme cheese bagel for £1.80, a coffee shop near me sells the same Bagel for £4!!!

One of my best memories about the bagel shop was when there was a riot on Brick lane a few years ago, loads of shops got there windows smashed in, cars were destroyed, it was todo with the rising cost of living in the area, so naturally the estate agents took a battering, but the begel shop was pristine, literally not a scratch. it was like it a had shield around it protecting it from the flying bricks and angry hippies letting everyone know they weren’t happy.

So heres some snaps I took Last night

B101 – LONGER WINTERS AND SHORTER SUMMERS IN THE UK

As im writing this post, its raining not just a bit its actually chucking it down, yesterday it was boiling hot, today its completely changed. My first idea for this post was to show some photos of the rain and maybe a few puddles around london, but I thought screw that im going to show some good weather and live in the past rather than face facts that London will never be the Mediterranean.

I even read an article the other day that said because of global warming, that Europe will experience cooling, meaning our summers will be even shorter and the winters a lot longer! This is becuase of the greenland Ice caps melting and the gulf stream, so in fact the cold air will be pushed into the golf stream and basically turn Europe into a fridge freezer.

for those of you who are equially suprised that I’ve read an article here’s ya proof.

B097 – LOOKING BACK!

its now only three days off me having posted three photos a day for 100 days, So today i thought it would be a good idea to show some pictures thats Ive taken but haven’t been post over the past 97 days I’ve been doing this. and then today I can head out and make sure I take even better photos for you to have a look at over your Sunday morning coffee. Sometimes its just easier to keep things simple.

B093 – ORANGE BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS

if you’ve ever been to brick lane and not tried the chicken wings you’ve gotta re-think your next trip. theres only one place to get the wings from and thats Orange Buffalo, some people would argue that the original sauce is better than the woof woof, but for me its Woof Woof with a side of blue cheese sauce the whole way! they’re a bit spicy but that just adds to the incredible taste.

If you get there between 12 – 3pm you can get the lunch time deal, chips, wings and blue cheese sauce all of £7.50! and trust me they give you enough food!

our orders

me: woof woof sauces wings, chips, blue cheese sauce and a bottle of water

Amy: Half and Half wings – Woof woof and original sauce wings, chips, blue cheese sauce and a can of coke.

Amy definitely did the right thing and get half and half, I was kind of jealous. but once your three wings deep I didnt really think about that any more.

B090 – BUCKLED BIKES OF BETHNAL GREEN

Probably a lot of you know im a bike fan of 2 wheels, not motor bikes they scare me but bicycles and all things pedal power, as someone living in london i’m used the walking out of a shop of pub to notice my bike lock on the floor and my bike gone. to me thats the lowest of the low, steeling someones bike. but this post is not about that, is post is about the sad and familiar site of bikes abandoned, chained to a lamp post or bike rack. something thats been rubber side down across hundreds of miles, it might of been a commuters new years eve resolution or even just a spontaneous purchase, but one thing no can disagree its the best way to see a city.

with 32% of all londoners cycling, thats around 4.2 million people! that means theres got to be at least 5 million bikes in London, thats amazing, but with that goes up the amount of bike abandoned which is sad! these could be the perfect traveling tools for people to get around. so people fi your reading this, dont abandoned your bike on the side of the road, take it to one of the bike hospitals for a new life!

check out these guys who are doing just that!

B087 – WE HAD BREAKFAST AT A GAS STATION

Nothing absolutely nothing beats breakfast on the side of the motorway in mainland Europe. the One euro espresso that comes in that weird brown plastic cup is probably the best coffee you can get your hands on, that with a ham and cheese baguette is the best meal you can have, breakfast, lunch or dinner it really doesn’t matter. I recommend it to any!

Thats exactly what amy and me did the other day, we said screw it to the croissant, fruit and coffee machine, we grabbed a spicey salami & cheese baguette at the local auto grill and a coffee to wake us up, not only did they warm it up for us but they also gave us cutlery, well a spoon to stir sugar into an espresso, but cutlery is still cutlery. they  even sold big versions of junk food, from 5 litre bottles of popcorn to massive tubes of pringles. its was almost dreamy.

B087-1

B086 – the phone pulls  through when you need it!

One thing I thought was a good idea is if I saved up all the photos I took on my iPhone from Italy. This camera gets used as a quick go to, if it’s in my hands and I happen to see something I like or if all my other cameras are in my bag. Then the photo takes the snap, no playing with settings just swipe up and press the button. Done.

A few months back though I wasn’t a fan of phone stills they always seemed a bit flat and couldn’t really hold up against a camera  but since I’ve been using it as an easy to go point and shoot camera, it’s definitely impressing me and something that’s pulled through when I’ve needed that quick snap.

Any way enough of the rambling I’ll let the photos do the talking.

– the last beach i saw –
– I just like the colour in this photo –
– the “high street” in Raito, Italy –

B085 – the hip little town of Raito

Im finding it hard to described the town Raito, it is a properly individual town where locals sit at the bus stop the whole day watching the world go buy, Old ladies invite you into their home to buy a “bus ticket” and wild dogs hang out on the street like teenagers no joke! this was the place we where staying, its high up in the mountains above the Amalfi Coastal road, the only transport is a bus that comes every 1/2 hours and doesnt really have a destination it just kind of drives roughly to the town and will roughly drop you off. this mixed with a couple of 5 star hotels which are full of tourist, expensive wines (we werent staying there we were in an Airbnb) and every other day the town played hosts to big Italian weddings!  definitely gives Raito a weird feel, and kind of organised chaos, but you gotta love it.

I wanted to take pictures at night of this hip little town  and show you just what is it like, so heres some snaps.

B084 – nothing beats a beach day!

We both woke up pretty early today and was nackered but instead of going back to bed we decided to head to a beach, eat ice cream and swim, we found this small beach in this cove no idea what it was called. the Amalfi coast is weird, there are thousands of small beaches dotted along the coastal road and you really have to look out to find out. any way about 100 meters away from this beach we found was this kind of secret beach which you could only get to if you swam across, we wanted to take the go pro and get a picture but we forgot to charge it so had no way of getting a photo!

Anyway after swimming over there and then chilling in the water it was time for amy todo some serious work on her tan and for me well I just had to try and find and shade I could and do my best not to burn. which didn’t work, I fell asleep in the sun and now look like a really ripe tomato.

anyway heres some snaps from our day.

B083 – we have driven on one of the worlds most dangerous roads!

This place is amazing, but its also pretty chaotic! One of the craziest things is driving south along the amalfi coast, its full of crazy moped drivers and to match that is the 100ft cliff edge literally inches away! But we have had a smasher of a week, yesterday we went and saw pompei, which is massive but properly jammed packed with tourists! After this we headed down to Amalfi for some food and a swim. that place is full of bright colour walls and cool little restaurants down small alleyways, its definitely worth a trip but dont come by road that the boat!

todays our last day and I owe amy a day sunbathing, we’ve been out the door each day at 8, either travelling somewhere, climbing a volcano or swimming. So today we work on amy’s tan!
